DETAILED POSITION REQUIREMENTS ?Prefer candidates who have a distinct interest in electro-mechanical design, stress analysis, and product development related to internal combustion engines. ?Ten or more years in focused technical area of expertise such as diesel engines, structure and stress analysis, finite element analysis, or design, with demonstrated experience and capability to manage projects. WORK DESCRIPTION & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES ?Use Pro Engineer as an engineering tool in the layout, modeling, and analysis of engines, engine sub-systems, engine components and assemblies ?Perform form, fit and function studies to ensure quality designs that meet all design requirements and space constraints ?Perform static and kinematic machine design calculations as appropriate ?Perform design analysis using FEA tools such as ProMechanica ?Prepare technical data and complete documentation of work ?Make supplier, OEM, and end-user customer visits as appropriate to support design activities. ?Work closely with manufacturing and purchasing functions to achieve producible, quality designs that meet or exceed cost targets ?Participate in the upgrading and creation of Design Standards ?Develop and manage to Individual Work and Development Plans with Design Leader and Team Leader. ?Carry out complex or novel assignments requiring the development of new or improved techniques and procedures ?Work results in the development of new or refined product, materials, processes, and projects ?Develop and evaluate plans and criteria for a variety of projects and activities to be carried out by others. ?Assesses the feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering evaluation tests or product designs ?Provides creative, innovative contributions in area of technical expertise and mentors the designers, analysis and test engineers ?Capable of leading design reviews and documenting outcome in technical reports ?Use engine test data to draw conclusions and document findings ?Own the design related Quality System Procedure, Total Quality System and Engineering Standard Work procedures
CRITICAL PERFORMANCE SKILLS ?Logical approach to problem solving ?Capable of developing and managing development test plans that lead to successful implementation of new component designs ?Specialist proficiency in Pro*E, Mechanica and other computer aided design and analysis tools ?Proficient in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing per ASME Y14.5M-1994 ?Excellent written and oral presentation skills ?Lead quality effort on component*project responsibility from Dimensional Variation Analysis (DVA) to manufacturing producibility
CRITICAL PERFORMANCE SKILLS cont.
?Good understanding of internal combustion engines or aptitude to learn ?A leader and participant in cross-functional technical groups*teams ?Works with large measure of autonomy, with supervision relating primarily to overall new concepts ?Consults with supervisor concerning unusual problems and developments that are outside scope of responsibility ?Strong team player ?Experience in engine testing and dynamic data measurement techniques a distinct advantage
Degree*Major Requirements: BSC minimum (MSC preferred) in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering
