Purchasing Agent


Job Description:




Responsible for all activities concerned with purchasing. The responsibilities of the purchasing agent include ordering and tracking items from outside vendors.




Major Responsibilities:





Maintain records of goods ordered and received.


Review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy.


Analyze market and delivery systems in order to assess present and future material availability.


Develop and implement purchasing and contract management instructions, policies, 
and procedures.


Resolve vendor grievances, and claims against suppliers.


Review, evaluate, and approve specifications for issuing and awarding bids.


Develop and implement purchasing and contract management instructions, policies,

Resolve vendor grievances, and claims against suppliers.


Review, evaluate, and approve specifications for issuing and awarding bids.


Ensures that materials, equipment, and supplies are ordered and delivered in a timely 
manner.
  

Chooses vendors, places orders, maintains records and handles returned goods.


Completes various standard purchasing responsibilities.


Prepares purchase requisitions, transportation and delivery documents, and related letters or memos.


Completes reports of purchasing activities and costs.


Verifies order delivery and sends back inaccurate shipments.


Verifies vendor pricing.


Accepts and scrutinizes vendor bids or proposals.


Arranges vendor contracts, bargains for best costs, and observes quality of purchased materials.


Organizes activities with warehouse personnel.


Handles the purchasing of office supplies.


Adjusts Inventory and Item Masters to reflect accurate vendor information.






Qualifications and Hours:




Requires  high  school  education,  preferably  a  two  year  degree  with  at  least  2  years 
experience in the field of purchasing or 4-6 years experience if no degree has been obtained.
Job will start off at 10-15 Hours per week (3-5 hours a day, 3 times a week) and can grow to 
a larger role depending upon growing company need.
