This international nonprofit organization seeks a highly technical Network Engineer to work in the IT Department.
The organization’s mission is to engage in the youth population throughout the country and make a better world for kids.
The position starts as temporary, full time, 5 days weekly, and can become permanent for the right person.
We are currently seeking a talented team player who would be responsible for assisting in the design, support, installation, maintenance, and repair of the organization’s more complex data environments. This includes servers, modems, hubs, switches, and telecommunications equipment. You will diagnose and resolve network-operating problems; prepare new equipment for installation in the Data Center and install hardware and software products and upgrades on distributed network systems. You will maintain network hardware and software parts inventory and provide inventory control for organization-owned network equipment items, as well as support the ongoing corporate LAN/WAN and Internet security functions. You will prepare weekly activity reports and monthly operational report; keep current on the latest network technologies and trends.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Minimum 3 years of experience in network analysis and support preferred
• Minimum 4 years of experience in LAN and WAN preferred
• Hands-on experience with medium to large enterprise networking environments, multiple site locations
• Experience in Microsoft Windows products and Microsoft Server applications such as Exchange, as well as other Server applications such as Citrix
• Experience with computer operating systems, Microsoft Windows and Cisco IOS
• Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining network products manufactured by Cisco Systems
• Experience with server and storage hardware, e.g., HP, EMC, SAN/NAS
• Demonstrated expertise in Internet technologies, data security, and firewalls
• Experience with software deployment systems (e.g. Altiris) highly desirable
• Experience with managing and designing virtualized environments (VMware) highly desirable
• Expertise in communicating with internal and external customers and suppliers
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business administration or related area or equivalent relevant experience; Network certifications in any of the following a plus: Microsoft MCSE, MCSA; Cisco CCNA, CCNP, CCIE
The Director of the Department is a great person, easy to get along with and a very technical guy. The team consists of 5 different personalities who are a very cohesive team.
