POSITION OVERVIEW:



Advantage Technologies located in New York City is seeking a Network Engineer. The Network Engineer will be a resource for all technology matters and will report directly to the Senior Network Engineer. The Network Engineer is responsible for answering help desk support calls, diagnosis and resolution of PC hardware, and software problems; LAN/WAN network troubleshooting; administration for all network-associated devices; management of various server related tasks, and utilizing your ability to lead IT-related projects. The day-to-day tasks include setting-up systems and servers, creating documentation, desktop re-imaging, managing AV / back-up systems, and more. You will be working with mostly Microsoft-based technologies.



RESPONSIBILITIES:



• Level 1 help desk support requests

• Basic level 1 RightFax, Citrix and E-mail administration and Windows server support

• Setup and maintenance on all database systems, operating systems, security, and network configurations

• Provide support as required with IP networking trouble shooting and maintenance

• Assist with application security monitoring and troubleshooting

• Monitor and correct networking issues

• Setting-up new network users and removing departed network users (network accounts, Exchange, home directories, network printers, applications, telephone, voicemail, etc.)

• Maintain standard laptop and desktop configuration images, documentation, and deployment procedure

• Install, configure, and maintain Microsoft Windows XP, MS Office Professional, Internet Explorer, and all other desktop applications

• Maintain an accurate inventory of all assigned responsibilities

• Monitor systems, create reports for users

• Provide Active Directory support

• Basic web/HTML skills a plus



QUALIFICATIONS:



• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or equivalent years of experience

• 3+ years of experience in the IT industry with hands-on experience in a server/client environment

• Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and attention to detail

• Microsoft systems certification desired



SKILLS & EXPERIENCES:



• Must be a self-starter with a burning desire to learn, demonstrate initiative, and overcome challenges

• Strong independent troubleshooting skills with 2+ years of experience working at a help desk preferred

• Windows XP, Vista, 2000, Active Directory, DHCP, IP, DNS, and light network administration

• Basic Exchange 2003 and 2007 skills with 1+ years of experience

• Basic Firewall and VPN skills, Sonicwall and/or Cisco with 1+ years of experience

• Strong understanding of IP layer 2 LAN switches

• Knowledge of Citrix XenApp, with basic administration and end-user support

• Ability to work under stress with time-critical deadlines and high expectations

• Requires excellent communication skills, analytical ability, strong judgment and management skills, and the ability to work effectively with users and managers from all departments

• Excellent knowledge and experience (at least 2+ years) analyzing and resolving technical issues

• Working knowledge of Microsoft’s desktop technologies and configuring database client applications

• Knowledge of database (Access, SQL), web server technologies (IIS), basic scripting a plus

• Working knowledge of various wireless LAN and IP products
