Gilt Groupe, one of the fastest growing companies in NYC provides access, by invitation only, to Men`s, Women`s, Children`s, Beauty, and Home coveted fashion and luxury brands at prices up to 70% off retail. Each sale lasts 36 hours and features hand selected styles from a single designer. The business model, based on urgency and scarcity, offers extraordinary goods at incredible prices, but only for a limited time. All of these sales occur daily at noon, driven by daily email reminders and alerts to a private membership. Most of the hot items are sold within the first 10 minutes, with the bulk of sales occurring within the first 90 minutes.
The business causes a daily, massive flood of transactional traffic at noon. Hundreds of thousands of shoppers compete online for the limited inventory, creating the need for a highly scalable and reliable web infrastructure. Our peak traffic is approaching the average load of large ecommerce sites like Amazon.com. The platform team is building an infrastructure that can handle it.
The QA Engineer Lead will be responsible for developing and executing manual test plans and leading a team of QA Engineers in a functional area. We’re looking for somebody with a real passion for the software quality assurance process.
Seeking a QA Engineer with lead experience - the position will be working across several different groups across a growing organization
Should have exposure to Quality Center (QC)
Solid understanding of a Java development environment
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of QA Engineers in test plan development and execution
- Define QA timelines and resource availability
- Create test plans and test cases
- Execute manual and automated test cases
- Develop SQL statements to execute back-end validations
- Work with automation team to automate manual test cases
- Participate in product requirement and technical meetings
- Report testing status to technology and business teams
- Review issues submitted by other teams and provide additional information as necessary
- Provide support to the Customer Service organization
- Train business team members on responsible applications
- Meet with engineering and business teams to understand site functionality
- Research new testing techniques
Qualifications
6+ years experience in software quality assurance in a web environment
3+ years experience in an ecommerce or online retail environment
Proficient in SQL and executing back-end database validations
Excellent oral, written, presentation and diagnosis skills
